Gokyo Lake Trek – 11 days Detail Itinerary

Our tour agency representative will welcome you at airport and transfer to Hotel. After check in Hotel, we will brief about the trek and rest or walk around street market.

An early morning drive from Kathmandu on winding roads takes us to Manthali, a tiny little town in Ramechhap district. Manthali Airport has been the gateway to Lukla since 2019. We start around 2 or 3 am in the morning following the Sunkoshi and Tamakoshi rivers, and reach Manthali right on time to catch the 6:30 or 7 am flight to Lukla. Note: All the flights to Lukla operate from Manthali Airport, Ramechhap during the months of March, April, May, October, November and December. We meet the rest of our crew, arrange our baggages, have breakfast, and embark on a journey to Monjo, passing exciting suspension bridges and tiny village settlements following the Koshi river.

An early morning visit to the National Park Headquarters at the top of the village will yield some rewarding mountain views. You could also take a quick jaunt to the picturesque twin villages of Khumjung and Khunde. Whatever you do, do not doze off during the day. There is a lot to see and afternoon naps aren't good for acclimatization. Closer at home, there is the Nauche Gumba at the western edge of the village. 'Nauche' which means 'big dark forest' is actually the old name of the village before it was deformed into Namche. And there is still a small patch of forest around the monastery, though by no means big or dark. Namche also has fully equipped trekking equipment outlets so it is a good idea to go around shopping for items you might have forgotten. It is also a good place to buy souvenirs but of course do this on your way down. If it is Saturday, you might want to check out the farmer's market here. Or you might just want to patronize some of the lively watering holes here. A fair word of warning though, alcohol dehydrates and dehydration isn't good for acclimatization. Drinking Responsibly has an added dimension at higher altitudes. Those that seem to be drinking like there is no tomorrow here are either on their way down or are Sherpas.

The trail climbs up from the town and then contours around the hillside, offering great views including Everest and Khumjung. It then ascends along the lower slopes of Khumbila, branching northwest of the Everest trail and continuing up the Dudh Koshi Valley. It climbs steeply to the tiny village of Mong La (built around an ancient chorten), then drops to Phortse Thenga before climbing through a pine and rhododendron forest and on up to Dole – from where there are marvellous views of snow capped peaks. Look out for spotted deer, Himalayan Tahrs and birds – including the colourful (male) Danphe pheasant (Nepal’s national bird). Overnight in Dole at Lodge

We walk parallel to the river below in the valley, and then slowly commence the ascent to Gokyo Village. We get great views of Cholatse from the village of Panga. Getting closer to Ngozumpa Glacier, we can see the vegetation changing drastically. Soon we find ourselves on the moraine of the glacier. Kangtega and Cho Oyu appear dominating over the horizon, and we can really feel we are in the heart of the Himalayas. A short walk later here, the trail levels off and soon we pass Longpongo Lake, the first lake in Gokyo Valley, followed by Taboche Lake, a larger lake. Trekking by the Ngozumpa Glacier, we reach Gokyo village.

The trail climbs a ridge for an excellent view both down the valley to Kantega and up towards Cho Oyu (8153m). Beyond the ridge, the valley widens as the trail passes through Pangka at 4390m then descends to the river bank before beginning the climb on to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier. It is a steep climb up the moraine, switch backing alongside the stream to the first small lake at 4650m, where a family of green Braminy ducks resides. We finally reach at our destination which is at the height of 4,750m from sea level—Gokyo.

After climbing a ridge, the trail moves through Lhabarma and to Luza, where we pass summer settlements of the locals. Views of Kantega, Cho Oyu, and Thamserku stay with us as we walk along the trail. The scenic hillside walk leads continue with the deep Dudh Koshi valley views. Finally, the five-hour walk ends at Machhermo, our stop for the day. A beautiful stream that originates from KyajoRi and PhariLapche runs through this village, where you can hear stories of the first sighting of Yeti.

Leaving Machhermo, we continue towards the heart of the Khumbu region, i.e. Namche Bazaar. It’s a simple walk down the vibrant town with some magnificent views of mountains and dense forests. We get back to Namche Bazaar via the same path that we had taken earlier. If we reach Namche early, we can explore the market area and interact with locals for the remaining time. Tonight, spend your time at a guesthouse in Namche.

Today is long day to get in Lukla about 6 to 7 hours all mostly descend. At first the trail downhill through the national park, often you have pleasant landscape view. In two hours you will cross the swing bridge above the high surface confluence of the two rivers and follow the river to the Jorsale and ascend foe while to the Manjo Gate and again follo the Dudh Koshi River to the Phakding, Ghat and Chheplung and follow the trail accending above the Caurikharka village and get in Lukla after 6 to 7 hours walk from Namche Bazaar. Our Guide will reconfirm flight ticket at airline office counter. We are staying night at Tea House.

The stunning morning flight from Lukla is prodigious. Flying parallel to the Himalayas, we see a final glimpse of the mountain from our window plan. Then, we soon see the sub-tropical forest and the small houses of Kathmandu. moreover, In less than 30-mins, we landed at Kathmandu airport. Here, a driver takes you to the hotel. Back at the hotel, you have some time for souvenir shopping and visiting the places around Thamel. Later, you can enjoy the nighttime and colourful streets of Thamel.

You get transferred to the international airport for your final departure to your loving home. One of our team members will assist you at the airport. If you want to take other tours in Nepal such as Chitwan Jungle Safari, Bardia Jungle Safari, Pokhara Tour or Lumbini tour then you can start from today and do let us know if you want to take any tour as we also arrange those tours.

I really like Pokhara city in whole trip of Nepal Package Tour, I joined with group for Nepal round trip, I looked around the internet to find group and joining, finally found Adventure Land Nepal Tour and Travel to provide group joining or fixed departure tour.

I liked Pokhara very much, great Himalayan view from room, big lakes along with Pokhara city, close to hiking hills, greenery surrounding the city, fresh air and attractive spots.

It was 9 people group, other friend also from different cities and countries. I got new experience to share our feeling and experience to each other.

It was 12 days Nepal trip, took us different cities and wildlife safari in Chitwan, explored culture, tradition, world heritage sites, buddhist monastery, Stupa, Temple etc which were unique and pilgrimage places to visit.

    Annapurna Sanctuary Trekking

We were 4 people planned to visit Nepal and all of us checked online price and facility of services, comparatively Adventure Land Nepal found average one, then decided to trek to Annapurna Base Camp, after complete the trekking, we would be happy with our decision. Thought that we got right person, right place and right decision, because our trekking organizer was experienced more than 20 years in tourism field. After arriving Nepal and hearing his briefing, it encouraged us to do as soon as possible do this trek.

He provided us nice package, Guide was strong and honest, he always gave an idea, what to do, how and where, these all moments were very valuable for us as we were beginners of trekking. Any way we had a lot enjoy even it was hard to walk in the hill sides. Up and down on the trails, it is really hard, but Mountain view and Nepalese lifestyle, their behave gave us plus point to forget that hardness.

We thanks to Mr Chij, manager of Adventure Land Nepal and Guide mr. Khadka. See you again in next trip.
